Move for America is now Civic Bridgers
Dear Friends and Partners,
Today marks a transformative moment. Move for America is becoming Civic Bridgers—a name that reflects our deepened commitment to strengthening American democracy through the power of leaders who dare to bridge divides. At a time when many question whether bridging is possible or even desirable, we affirm that bringing Americans together is not just aspirational—it is essential for the survival of our democracy.
The path forward is clear: we aren't just building programs—we're catalyzing a movement. Today, 75% of young Americans express uncertainty about our democratic system, yet their passion for civic connection remains strong. This energy can be channeled to catalyze civic renewal.
Our name reflects our identity: we are a community of Civic Bridgers. Civic Bridgers are patriotic leaders who heal polarization and champion pluralism in service of a healthy democracy. We focus on rebuilding the civic foundations that make democracy possible: the ability to see our shared humanity across differences and to solve problems together. We know that defending democracy and building bridges are not opposing forces—they are interdependent.
Civic Bridgers don’t abandon our values or check our opinions at the door. We call each other to remember our common humanity and our shared American values, particularly when we disagree. We do not compromise on fundamental rights or equate those who would expand democracy with those who would restrict it. Nevertheless, we understand that our fellow Americans are not our enemies.
As Civic Bridgers expands our reach through initiatives like Beyond Civics and Campus Bridging Initiative, we are guided by a bold vision: a revival of pluralism led by Civic Bridgers. This vision is rooted in the belief that our democracy depends on our ability to see the tapestry of American identities not as a source of division, but as our greatest strength.
This work has never been more urgent. At a time when democracy faces real challenges, the solution isn't to retreat into our corners—it's to step forward and engage. The momentum we've built, the support we've received, and the impact we've witnessed tell us that Americans are hungry for a different way. Bringing Americans together across lines of difference isn't just about being nice—it's about creating the resilient civic relationships that make democracy possible.
To all those who have been part of this journey, thank you. We invite you to join us in this next chapter. Together, we can build a future where differences don't divide us but drive us forward, where young leaders step boldly into their civic responsibility, and where our democracy is strengthened by those who choose to bridge rather than break.
